A great story on bootleg Jacob's Creek that i came across from another board, and one that might interest a few people after recent fake-bottle controversies such as the 1955 Mackenzie - apparently the margins are there even on supermarket wine!
The article also contains these two fantastic sentences:
"These tests showed that despite being drinkable, the wine was far from the standard of normal Jacob's Creek wines.
Pernod Ricard senior technical officer Zara Fulmar also noted that "only a real Jacob's Creek connoisseur could tell that it's a sub-standard bottle of wine.""
(though, to be fair, i have never tried Jacob's Creek as far as i am aware, and suppose i probably should do before commenting further lest be labelled a wine snob)

Re: Fakes & margins
If you’d asked me, before reading this post, I would have said Pernod and Ricard were both pretty minor brands locked in mortal combat over the pastis market. Not an international conglomerate owning things like Jacob’s Creek...

Their Cab-Shiraz blend is pretty good QPR and I once aged a case I bought for $65 for 6 years and it was really good. Wasn't sure how it would handle cellaring and I was amazed. Should've bought a 2nd case at the time
