30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
JDAW and I will be eating dead cow and drinking Vintage Port at The Crusting Pipe on Wednesday 30th November.
The theme for the evening is "Bring a bottle of Vintage Port wrapped in foil". Start time is likely to be around 18:30.
Any volunteers?

Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
I would, of course, love to attend but my calendar this week (plus potentially the 30 Nov strikes, if these are going to have any impact on train/tube) could make it difficult - i put my chances at only 33% at this moment so count me out if you need firm commitment now.

Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
I will try but as with Rob it depends on transport and how that is affected by the proposed strike...otherwise...I'm in...any theme?
Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
Indeed, the National Day of Industrial Inaction could be an inconvenience.
Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
Could the theme be non-blind? Just ‟A Bottle of Vintage Port”.

Although it might be an inconvenience, perhaps we owe it to the down-trodden masses (each of whom probably has a better pension arrangement than any of us) to support their cause by having a night of decadent excess.jdaw1 wrote:Indeed, the National Day of Industrial Inaction could be an inconvenience.

This is just wrong. Please tell me it is a mistake?!?!?!
Surely you meant something different?
"seeing you in Wednesday."?

Apart from that it all looks fine.

In which case, i will leave jdaw1 to choose what he wants to drink from my cellar out of: F85, G83, D80, F77, F70 (base neck/just below base neck), Ck67 or Cr63 - i am equally excited by opening any of them.
I will decant tomorrow am based on what the placemat says!

Decision decisions: decant at 6am, or just after 6pm?jdaw1 wrote:1977 Taylor.
Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
A rather easy one imho.
Decant @ 6am, drink, then open another bottle @ 6pm to enjoy the night of.

Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
my vote is for the a.m. option but perhaps an immediate double decant or into a small decanter rather than a big ship's decanter with a lot of air contact.

Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
nb - given my still tentative attendance and the fact i will struggle for printer access tomorrow, it will not be easy for me to print (though if we're really stuck i could send by email to the Barbican Ryman printing service email address if Derek/Julian email the .pdf to me)

Rob favours early decanting; I favour late. DRT: you have the casting vote.

The value of your judgement as to which is better should be independent of your attendance.RAYC wrote:i am not a definite. therefore my vote is not worth the same as yours.
Re: 30 Nov 2011 - The Crusting Pipe
My preference for my bottles is 5pm tomorrow as is lessens the chance of them leaking on my clothes in my bag tomorrow. I therefore vote for 5pm for JDAWs bottle too.

Btw what's the condition of your bottle Julian?
i've had ones that are soo spirity they require that morning decant (usually of poorer provenance).
