Leak patrol..

Post by uncle tom »

A couple of times a year I go round my cellar with a torch, peering closely at every capsule, whilst keeping my nostrils on alert for the sweet smell of a leaky bottle..

I always do this with some trepidation, fearing that the cork on one of my most prized gems will have yielded to the degradations of age..

Six months since my last tour, I can report:

- No new leakers!

:sun: :D :D :D :sun:

Happy times!

So what do you have on your death row at the moment? And how did you choose them?
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I have six classes of 'offence' and each of the six bottles on death row is 'guilty' of them, in turn.

If they are also 'guilty' of other 'offences' they are more likely to find their way onto DR..

The last line-up for this year are:

1) RCV 1980 - offence: First bottle (from case or a lone bottle)

2) Morgan 1991 - offence: Overstock (can be of the vintage or the wine)

3) Warre 1955 - offence: Poor level

4) Graham 1985 - offence: Not recently drunk (Not drunk at home for two years+)

5) Ferreira 1970 - offence: Drink up (either a bottle with signs of seepage, or a wine that I previously reckoned to be on the way out)

6) Fonseca 1966 - offence: Last bottle (from a case, or a lone bottle)

Have just started the RCV80 - quite a pleasant surprise - better than most 80's..!
