Were others aware of this? This has been a valuable resource for me, and it would be a pity for the information there to disappear into the ether at the end of this month (if that is, indeed, what will happen - i know not about the technicalities of such things). In this announcement, infoportwine.com wrote:06/08/11. On July 28th it was ten years ago that we published this site for the first time. This seems like an appropriate moment for us to reconsider our position. We have been aware for a long time that we should really update all of the techniques behind the site completely. But we currently lack the energy and/or the necessary resources to do so.
So with some sadness, but without much regret we decided to discontinue this site.
This month’s publication is the last extensive one. On December 31st , 2011 will terminate our service provider subscription. Perhaps we will publish some special messages during that time.
We thank all our visitors and supporters for their attention and their many kind words.
Perhaps the following parts of our activities can be of interest to others:
- Parts of the site content.
- The domain name infoportwine.com.
- The extensive database of wine competitions.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us through ipw@infoportwine.com

Re: infoportwine site discontinued...
With the agreement and co-operation of the proprietor of InfoPortWine, Herman Gerdingh, I have created an archive of his website so that it can continue to be used by Port lovers into the future.
The site is currently available on http://www.infoportwine.co.uk - I hope to be able to reactivate the original website address in the next few weeks.

Way to go Derek... thanks
Any time not spend drinking port, is a waste of time.
Re: infoportwine site discontinued...
Nice one - it would have been a real pity to lose this. I certainly know that when i did my trip down the Douro, the travel section in particular is an amazingly helpful resource.
Thanks to both Derek and Herman!
