1980 Quarles Harris vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very dark red, 99% opaque. Not much on the nose, just a little dark fruit. Restrained entry, hints of sweet fruit but enormous tannins - very chewy. Develops well on the palate. Chewy aftertaste, tannin dominated and a big length of bitter chocolate. A big wine dominated by the tannins - will be tremendous if the fruit lasts. 85/100. 3 day decant.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
