Some of the obvious suspects gathered, with Stephanie T. Galley (friend of wife of jdaw1), in The Bung Hole, to drink some 1966s.

Cr66: red, with a hint of brown, 40% opaque. Nose has red fruit and smoke. Sophia said ‟grapes”, but I wasn’t convinced. The taste is big, unctuous, with Skye smoke, and very very delicious.

Re: 1966 Croft
I had Croft 66 in February in a blind tasting and was absolutely suprised about how good it is. I guessed it for a Fonseca 70, a VP I like very much.

Deep red, very dark colour. 40% opaque. Muted nose, some heat and lovely fruit - very attractive, very perfumed. Sweet and velvety texture on the palate, with intense fruit and multiple layers; perfect acidity. The aftertaste explodes with flavour, before a long cranberry finish. An intense wine with a huge volume of flavour but a relatively short finish - very good. With time in the glass, the nose became more caramelised. 94/100.
