Sandeman Sangria Contest

Post by VinoCC »

Hello all -

I just wanted to let you know that Sandeman is currently hosting a contest that invites people to create and submit a Sandeman Sangria recipe for a chance to wine a trip to New Orleans and, more specifically, Tales of the Cocktail. More details can be found on their Facebook page, but basically, it is this:

SANDEMAN SUMMER
SANGRIA CHALLENGE
Sangria is one of summer’s most anticipated offerings. It is an approachable and crowd-friendly solution to all of summer’s gatherings, with its most valued trait being one shared with Sandeman Porto: its versatility. This summer, Sandeman Porto is challenging lovers of this pitcher drink to create the perfect sangria, featuring Sandeman Founders Reserve Porto, for the chance to win a trip for two to the world renowned Tales of the Cocktail festival in New Orleans.

PRIZE DETAILS
Grand Prize Includes: Round trip coach class air transportation for winner and one (1) guest from a major U.S. gateway airport nearest winner’s residence to New Orleans, LA, Native Spirits Package for two (2) people for the Tales of the Cocktail Festival, a gift card in the amount of $400, four (4) nights hotel accommodations, airport transfers to and from the hotel and travel insurance.

CONTEST INSTRUCTIONS
All you have to do is email your best recipe for the most delicious, creative and summer-inspired sangria, featuring Sandeman Founders Reserve Porto, along with an image (JPG, TIF, EPS or PDF format), by clicking below between May 1, 2012 and June 1, 2012. Our judging panel will review each entry and select one (1) winner on or about June 7, 2012. Please see the Rules and Regulations tab for detailed instructions and requirements.

In full disclosure, I work with Sandeman on the social media side of things, but I thought this would be a good opportunity for so many port lovers! I too am a lover of Port and actually stumbled upon this forum because I am currently taking the fortified wines class of the WSET Diploma so don't hate me for marketing :) It may be marketing, but it's still pretty cool. Please let me know if you have any questions! Constance_Chamberlain@comcast.net

Constance,

Welcome to the forum - and non-spam marketing that is related to port is perfectly welcome. I would probably not have heard of the competition if you hadn't posted here and while I'll almost certainly not enter, it is really good to hear that Sogrape are doing some things to promote port that are a bit different and a bit imaginative.

Hopefully you'll come back to the forum from time to time and let us know more about your port preferences, where you're based - and whether you actually get to try any port through your work at Sandeman!

Alex
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Thank you for the disclosure not all firms would be that honest. And as AHB said, non-spam port-related material is welcome, even if marketing.
