Tue 23 October
I have to be in London for a late afternoon meeting on Tuesday 23rd October. Is anyone else around and interested in meeting up?

I could be persuaded.
what type of theme? If we're going for the good stuff, i have a couple of nice options (but will not declare now in case you want to go blind)

Re: Tue 23 October
I haven't really thought of a theme - I'm open to suggestions, or simply "bring a blind (or not) bottle of vintage port to share". Or we could make this an opportunity to try a couple of untried vintages of Warre or Smith Woodhouse LBV.
Do you have any preference?

Re: Tue 23 October
I've just realised that this would be the closest offline to my birthday - we could make it a 1963 theme? Or at least I could bring a 1963 vintage port?

Looks like it could be just you and me, so let's go sighted.
That gives you a choice from the bottles I have at home of Constantino, Gould Campbell, Martinez, Offley, Quarles Harris or an Unknown Shipper. Which would you prefer?

Of the others, i am most intrigued by Constantino (can't recall ever having had a Constantino VP) and Gould (the two 66s i have had this year were amazing, the 77 not too shabby, so on a good run of luck with this house).
I will bring Cockburn if that is ok - first of some very nice looking bottles that i acquired in April from the Tennants auction. If you have any objections to that, i also have Delaforce and Croft to hand.

Cockburn would be lovely - I like Cockburn's 1963.RAYC wrote:Unknown should be saved.AHB wrote:Looks like it could be just you and me, so let's go sighted.

The unknown will be opened on or very close to my birthday weekend, it's not an unknown that I planned to save. But I'm also happy to bring either the Constantino or Gould Campbell - both look to be in good condition. Unless you have a particular preference, I'll bring the Constantino.

Re: Tue 23 October
I have so little 63 that i'd sort of prefer not to kill two bottles in one evening, and i don't think you should do a last minute order.
Unless AHB says otherwise, i don't think we need to have exclusively 63 (I'll let AHB make the call on the Borges - i'm less snooty about it than i was last week after the B&I 70 showing on Monday)

I would be happy for that one to be "blind" if it facilitates placemats this evening (my guesses on the night, of course, would be Constantino, Gould Campbell, Martinez, Offley, or Quarles!)jdaw1 wrote:Placemats being made this evening. There's a small chance i might be able to make it out for a couple of hours between 7.00 and 9.00 tomorrow - enough to leave the bottle standing tonight, not enough to make a firm commitment.
Take me off the placemats but i now have a sliver of hope that i'll join you with the Ck for a short while.
