London tastings: Port request list
London tastings: Port request list
Request list for ports you would like to see at tastings in the next 12 months.
Here's a list of ports that i have never drunk, don't have in my cellar, but would like to try at a London tasting if someone has a bottle on death row:
1997 Vesuvio - EDIT: now tasted - BBR port walk 2013
1997 Ramos Pinto - EDIT: now tasted - the BFT Niepoort-Ramos retrospective 2013
1991 Vargellas
1983 Niepoort - EDIT: now tasted - thanks Ronnie
1983 Cockburn
1977 Offley
1966 Ferreira
Feel free to add. Sensible requests preferred! G/F/T 45/48/55/63/66/70 etc. are taken as a given!

Re: London tastings: Port request list
If I recall correctly, the '77 Offley is on the new Davy's bar list.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

It is....for £85....AHB wrote:If I recall correctly, the '77 Offley is on the new Davy's bar list.
SW83 looks a better deal for £60, though still rather expensive compared to bringing from home (and i'd suspect not an ideal candidate for pop and pour).

Re: London tastings: Port request list
I can't argue that the Davy's bar price list is expensive compared to bringing a bottle from home and paying corkage - but there are times when we run out and the choice on the wine list is waving to us...RAYC wrote:It is....for £85....AHB wrote:If I recall correctly, the '77 Offley is on the new Davy's bar list.

I seem to remember bringing a bottle of 2007 Quinta do Vale Meao over to the UK. If I can find it I'll make sure it is saved for a TPF offline when you are there.

I was born in '63, therefore by definition the '63s are still youthful and spritely!griff wrote:The thought of the 63's as being relatively young made me smile

Thanks for the offer of the Vale Meao 2007 at a forthcoming offline - that would be most appreciated.

The inconsistent capitalisation is somewhat bemusing, but it is a good theme.jdaw1 wrote:‟We Got Bista On An Offle Lot of Offley 2013”?DRT wrote:Only if we can call it "An Offle Lot of Offley 2013"

Re: London tastings: Port request list
I'd like to add a few to the list (or if keeping separate, this is the current PW list):
Niepoort '87
Warre '58
Croft '91
Rebello Valente '70
Warre 1969 LBV
Of the above, the Cr91 is the only one I have had before, but it was a while ago and I would like to try it again; the others are all ports I have never had and would love to try. I'd like to have included Cr45 on the list as well, but am sure that would exceed the "sensible request" criteria

Re: London tastings: Port request list
I would add TV70 to my list also; I didn't know until recently that they produced both T70 and TV70 that year. While generally less of Taylor fan flavour-profile-wise, I do enjoy the Vargellas, so would be very interested to try the '70 version.
