It was organised by Axel Probst (thanks again) with the support of the IVDP. As always when Axel is organising something, it was perfect. very good location and a brilliant ability to taste some ports.
The main theme of the fair were 20y Tawnies, who were presented by over 30 different producers. Some producers also showed their Vintage Ports from 1991and/or 1992 or some Colheitas of 1991 or 1992. Most wineries were represented by their importers, but also some famous wine personalities from Portugal, eg. David Guimaraens from Fladgate Partnership and Maria Manuel Maia, from Pocas family , were specifically come to this event in Germany.

To keep it short:
Overall the quality of the 20y tawnies was very high, as expected from me. but it was very interesting to compare them side by side to see the different house styles.
From the Vintage Ports 1991 Graham and Warre satisfy me the most, also the Ferreira, Quinta de la Rosa and Niepoort (from a magnum) showed a little bit more matured, but are very nice to drink now. Of 1992, there were only a few Vintage Ports. The Fonseca presented still quite closed with a very nice, fresh acidity and a backbone that promises an excellent development. I would treat him at least 10 years maturity. Even now, to drink excellent and with a great structure showed the Delaforce, the biggest surprise to me, and Quinta do Vesuvio.
