Good evening fellow port lovers,
I'm new to this great site so kindly excuse me if I'm in the wrong section to be asking this question.
I'm originally from the Barossa Valley in South Australia and have a couple of fantastic cooperage's nearby for port kegs. I'm currently in the UK and wish to purchase a port keg for a relative here but am struggling to find a suitable company to purchase from.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Happy tasting and cheers,
BD

What size of barrel do you want? and does it specifically need to be a port barrel?
As port is no longer exported to the UK in barrels (must be bottled in the Douro / Oporto), i'd imagine your best bets are to scour antique outlets or to have a ring round some whisky distillers in Scotland to see if any of them have a spare port barrel (presumably before it's been used for ageing whisky!).
If it doesn't specifically need to be a port barrel, a quick google search shows a number of uk cooperages (eg: here, here or here, but wouldn't have a clue if any are good or what the market rate is for a barrel!).
N.B. what do they need port barrels for in the barossa valley?!
