1927 Cockburn vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ck27: lightly brown, 40% opaque. Nose fully mature, showing raisins. Bright taste spearmint! Heat mid-palate, great length. Raisins throughout. Andy rightly noted pepper, from mid- to late-palate. JDAW, January 2013

Burnt ochre on the eye; 30% opaque. Fabulous nose, full of polished leather and beeswax. Balanced on entry, rich and full of bittersweet Seville orange marmalade. Big on the palate, lots of layers and complexity. Warming aftertaste, then a long finish of delicate honey and lemon. Very fine port. 95/100. 4 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
