1970 Kopke Quinta do Sao Luiz vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

KL70: dark red, 40% opaque. Mid+ weight; red cherries. Slight dryness mid-palate. Lovely port. JDAW, January 2013

Kopke. Firm red centre; 40% opaque. A bit of cabbage on the nose, with sharp spirit grabbing the attention. Restrained cherry syrup on entry, lacking a little acidity for balance but the tannins are still present. Sweetness and tannins dominate the aftertaste and finish. 87/100. Decanted 5 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
