No need to feel guilty in the slightest. On the other hand, *if* (and only if) you were already going to Weingalarie (you previously mentioned you might be dropping in there) and had room to purchase an extra bottle, I would love a bottle of Kopke Colheita 1984 (€45) - and could then swap you for one of the F83/D83 pair which I will be bringing. No worries if this doesn't work for you, just a thought in case.djewesbury wrote:I feel a little guilty at arriving empty-handed for my first offline. Davy's list W85 as one of the wines they sell from stock. Would it be easy enough to purchase a bottle from them, and ask them to have it decanted for us? Or does that miss the point...?
Perhaps, since I was unable to get a Kopke 84 Colheita for Phil, I could try and get hold of a W83 the day before the tasting? This would give me time to stand and double decant. Again, perhaps if someone has this in their cellar there's no need to go to these lengths...

Davy's will absolutely do as you have suggested, but usually need around a week's notice to guarantee getting the bottle from their retail site in Greenwich to the wine bar of your choice. I don't think they will be able to help out for April 2nd.
I am also confused. Please could the organiser or the deputy organiser post a list of which person is bringing which bottle(s). Thanks.

It will be difficult to get to my G85 before the tasting, and I may be a little late as a result. I will decant prior to arrival.jdaw1 wrote:PW is bringing F83 & D83. Re: 1983-1985 Double Horizontal on Tuesday 2 April 2013
I'm slightly confused. The clear part:
DRT - bringing G83 T83 D85
PW - bringing F83 D83
JDAW - bringing F85
The confusing part:
AHB - bringing... (G83 originally, now nothing or as per last post perhaps bringing G85 but arriving [and decanting] late?)
THRA - requested to bring G85 T85 W83 W85
Noting that Tom will likely be back home very late for bottle pickup+decant, plus your earlier query regarding decant times; For ideal comparison the bottles should really have similar decant times - I would suggest 6-12hr. As this might be unlikely to be possible for AHB/THRA bottles, I offer to bring G85, W85 and W83 in addition to the F83 and D83 (I cannot provide T85, sorry), which would all be decanted 6-8hrs before tasting and would solve most problem with AHB/THRA timing, if that would help. If wanted please let me know, otherwise I shall just arrive with F83 and D83 as per current plan.
