Trivia - VP with largest number of bottlers?

Post by PhilW »

A trivia question:
- What Vintage Port was imported/bottled by the largest number of importers/bottlers?

I noted what seemed like a good number of English bottlers for W70, which made me wonder this.
I am aware of the following for W70 (though have not seen/tasted all of them):
1. Oporto bottled
2. Imported and bottled for Percy Fox and Co Limited
3. Bottled by Peatling & Cawdron
4. English bottled by "Ellis, Son & Vidler"
5. English-bottled by Greenhall
6. Bottled by Yorkshire Fine Wines
7. English bottled by "Berry Bros & Rudd

Can any TPF-er provide a port with a longer list?
(A question for the preparers of "The Book" perhaps)

Dow 1878 was shipped to and bottled by at least 27 different merchants or consumers. As soon as "The Book" is published you will know who they were.

I can't add to the list of Warre 1970 shippers and a quick look through my cellar list and tasting notes shows that the most bottlers I have seen for a single port is for the Taylor 1963, where I have seen:
  1. Army & Navy
  2. Berry Brothers
  3. Grants of St James
  4. UK Country House bottling
  5. Belfast (unknown) wine merchant bottling
  6. Oporto bottling
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny

Interesting. Probably bottled only a few streets away from where I'm now sitting. Is there any address?

No, all it had was a stamp around the edge of the wax capsule that was quite smudged, but the word "Belfast" could be made out.
