1942 Niepoort

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Ex-cellars in a 1 litre bottle. Deep orange in colour, 20% opaque. Attractive nose with rich and mature fruit with a touch of burnt sugar. Mature leathery fruit all over the palate. Soft tannins show on the mid-palate but there is still so much fruit. A bit of heat shows on the aftertaste before the long finish takes over. A very fine port. 94/100. Drunk 24 April 2013 at the Big Fortified Tasting.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
