I am in the process of purchasing just less than three cases (34 bottles) of wine from the recent poster "DJH", and have just found that my usual cellarer, Seckfords, will not take mixed cases, and, living in Tokyo, I am unable to collect them very soon.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Might it be possible to keep them at the Bunghole to share will other port heads when I am through London? And if so, how can I get them transported from Maidenhead to Central London?
All ideas welcome.
Port storage problem
Re: Port storage problem
The Bunghole doesn't have the facility to do this for you.
A couple of the guys here have storage facilities at Big Yellow in Chelsea. It is a relatively expensive way of solving the problem compared to Seckfords but might work for you if it is for a short period or if you plan on buying more.
Hopefully someone who uses that option will chime in soon.

Re: Port storage problem
It might be a bit tough to set up and operate a storage acount at Big Yellow if you are in Tokyo and can't physically access the storage locker. You might be able to get Big Yellow to accept delivery and transfer the bottles to your locker.
However, you might find it easier to open a storage account with Private Reserves Ltd. They will store mixed cases and (for a fee) will also arrange collection and transfer to your storage account. The disadvantage of Private Reserves is that you can only withdraw in whole cases and need to give a couple of weeks notice if you want delivery.

I'm sure I could find a home for a few bottles..

Benelux and Interlink are the collection/delivery services that many people over on wine-pages use seem to use for their wine. I have previously used Benelux for wine delivery from an auction and it seems fine.
Fine and Rare's wine storage service accepts single bottles, and will deliver single bottles (for a fee)
