1963 Fonseca vintage port

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottle h.

The last of the eight bottles from the single lot of unknowns bought at auction. Ruby red centre and a light rim. Subdued nose, somw sweet cranberries and white pepper. Sweet fruit, mature and full of raspberries on the palate with shadowy tannins giving plenty of support - still showing some attractive youth in all the maturity. Long finish, full of chocolate and raspberry coulis. Delicious. 93/100. Drunk 23 April 2013 with a 6 hour decant.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
