Sour cherry nose, which some thought slightly dusty but i quite liked. Thinnish texture but good rich flavour. Zingy citrus heat at finish. Good port, though benefitted from being tasted before some of the better 70s at the tasting. I enjoyed this bottle, and think i rated this higher than most. 90

Light in colour, pale rose; 10% opaque. On the nose this smells herbaceous, full of dry green leaves. Sweet entry, little fruit, showing as a lightweight port. Strawberries arrive mid-palate and grow to mouthfilling levels. Lovely balance. Wood ash on the aftertaste, slight woody edge to the long finish that lacks fruit but has plenty of green apples on the finish. Not a great showing - just possibly slightly flattened by the mildest of TCA taint. Served blind this was guessed to be Sandeman 1985. 84/100. Drunk 04-Jun-13. Decanted 5 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Df77, decanted 2½pm. Red-pink, 30% opaque. Taste light, with strawberry. Heat mid-palate, fuller at end. Freshness. PW said ‟hint of lemon”; CRS said ‟sherbet”.
