2008 Alter Ego de Palmer, Margaux

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

52% merlot, 48% cabernet sauvignon. Red and youthful appearance. Massive nose, lots of cigar ash and cedar wood ”“ very surprising. Rough entry with lots of wood and vanilla; the tannins are slightly rough and spiky. Modest levels of fruit. Big, sappy aftertaste and a long finish ”“ a very long finish that is full of cedar wood. Actually an amazing length of finish, but the finish is woody rather than fruity. Approachable and drinkable now but will be better in a few more years. 85/100.
