Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

1995 Chateau Palmer, Margaux

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

51% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, 9% cabernet franc. Less mature in appearance than the 1996 shown alongside; 75% opaque with a touch of bricking but more intense colouring. Restrained on the nose, not releasing much but a perfumed cedar wood. Soft entry, but delivering considerably more tannins on the palate and less obvious fruit ”“ reminding me of the 1978 vintage. Will the fruit outlive the tannins? Good development on the late palate, then a huge and explosive sweet citrus aftertaste and finish; a truly wonderful finish. Drink now, but better to keep a little elonger before starting. 92/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
