Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

1966 Chateau Palmer, Margaux

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

50% merlot, 22% cabernet sauvignon, 16% petit verdot, 12% cabernet franc. Brown, with a hint of red and full of fine particulate. Cedar wood and cigars dominate the pronounced nose. Wonderful to sniff and smell. Balanced texture on the palate, with meat juices and dried meat and perhaps even some dried raisins. Lovely layering and good intensity. Terrific aftertaste, full of mature citrus fruit that fades quickly to a lower level that then persists well. Delicious, but one to drink up slowly. 90/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
