2011 Quinta do Noval
Very purple. Lovely ripe nose, full of soft fruit. Restrained fruit on the palate that grows beautiflly in layers. The tannins are soft, mostly hidden and show themselves only with work until they take firm control of the aftertaste and finish. My only complaint is the slightly watery texture - most other 2011 ports are much richer and more velvety than the Noval. 93-95+. Snapshot tasting on 20 May 2013.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
