Very old Madeira Wine tasting - Munich Dec 2012

In Munich a great Madeira Wine tasting took place, with 12 Madeira wines, most of them from 18.th and 19.th century.

The line up includes:

1795 Southside (brand of the formerly existing CVM) Terrantez
1845 Cossart Gordon Centenary Bual
1850 Southside (brand of the formerly existing CVM) Verdelho
1860 Southside (brand of the formerly existing CVM) Verdelho
1880 Southside (brand of the formerly existing CVM) Malmsey
1880 Macieria (brand of the formerly existing FWC) Solera Verdelho
1895 HM Borges Malmsey
1898 Henriques & Henriques Solera Sercial
1900 Pereira D´Oliveiras Moscatel
1926 Cossart Gordon Bual
1969 Miles Sercial

Short summary: Amazing tasting, the most fascinating wines for me was the Terrantez 1795 and the Malmsey 1880. All Southside wines were very good. Surprise of the evening was Miles Sercial 1969, even if it was the youngest of all, it was a very good example of a Sercial. All Solera wines tend to be not exact the grape specifics, f.e. H&H Sercial Solera was much darker and sweeter than what you belief from a Sercial.
