1997 Quinta do Noval

1,200 cases declared. Distinct bricking on the narrow rim, slightly cloudy. Reductive nose, over-ripe fruit. Soft ripe fruit on entry, followed by lively but gentle tannins wrapped in sweet brown sugar. Great balance on the palate with a gentle but firm elegance. Spicy aftertaste, then a swetness to the woody finish that lingers for ages. 94/100. Drunk 16-Sep-13.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
