1945 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Oporto bottled , possibly by Coassert. Dark amber colour, 30% opaque. Slightly spirity on the nose, a touch of varnish and mild VA. Very tertiary on the palate, full of brown sugar and faint tannins. Patience just allows more brown sugar to come through the palate. This is soft and elegant port. The finish brings yet more brown sugar, with a bit of icing sugar mixed in for good measure. Elderly and mature, but should last some years yet. 85/100. 01-Nov-13.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
