AOP Maury Tuilé 'Cuvée de Centenaire'

Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

AOP Maury Tuilé 'Cuvée de Centenaire'

Post by djewesbury »

Tasted at the Northern Ireland Wine & Spirits Institute's Christmas tasting, 10th Dec 2013.

Made from Grenache, and rated "hors d'âge" which is a designation apparently roughly equal to XO in cognac production, and meaning literally "beyond its age".

16.5%, 107 g/l residual sugar.

Mid brown, about 40%. Very juicy, woody nose. In the mouth, really excellent - a sherry dryness, but then woody juiciness from soft tea-like tannins, with some distinctive but not too pronounced Swan Vesta smokiness late on. This was the wine most like a good colheita out of all I've had from Maury; one to watch out for in the BFT next year.
