2010 Le Grand Pompee

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

St Joseph, from Paul Jaboulet Ainé. Sold by The Wine Society in half bottles.

Opened 11 Jan 2014. Deep red and opaque but with a wonderful, expressive nose full of complex fruit. On the palate this was fruit driven, ripe and sweet, supported by a fierce acidity and rounded tannins. Not particularly complex but very flavoursome - what it did, it did extremely well. The lovely youthful fruit and rounded tannins produced an excellent length aftertaste and finish. 85/100.

A delicious wine which I can thoroughly recommend if you are looking for an everyday drinker.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
