Likely 3/8 as that is the Saturday. We have tried Friday before and it just doesn't work as well for the locals. Sunday doesn't work for me due to flight schedules.JohninNYC wrote:Please let me know the date. My schedule is open right now for any of those dates so pls count me in!

I'm in if there is room.

Ruth and I will be there. And I like the 2011 VP theme. It will give me (and others?) a chance to taste them while they are still available to buy.

are there particular houses you're interested in? I can bring those instead and we can do other mature bottles?

Works for me. I will probably still contribute one of those 2011 Stone Terraces that I'm getting from you because they'll already be in NYC and so won't need to be shipped.

Re: Annual ACPT March 8th 2014 tasting in NY
perhaps it's time to do that fonseca tasting we've all been talking about esp after those comments on ftlop about doing verts.
I have the below bottles immediately i'd happily be able to contribute
55, 66, 70, 75, 77, 80, 85, 92, 94, 97
if we do guimareans I can throw in a few more.
I'm pretty sure Sushi can fill in the blanks too if not, I'd hate to goto offsite storage, but will if need be.
if we want to go crazy, I can find a source for the 48.

I'd love to do a Fonseca vertical! I can't contribute anything that g-man doesn't already have, but can help with any needed purchases if this is what we do.

I have an 85 Fonseca and a 95 Guimareans....or could just adopt if that's what you prefer.
Re: Annual ACPT March 8th 2014 tasting in NY
i think it may be more equitable (for me) if i say the cost of some of these bottles.
esp the pre 70 bottles. even so if we get 10 people i can't see the bottle cost exceeding 50-70$/person

If there is still room I'd love to join.
I only have the 1985 and 2000 Fonseca, not sure if needed/desired. Would be happy to split the cost too.
Had it in the back of my mind that you'd be organizing a tasting again this year and meant to come check it out but only got around to it now. Hope not too late!

Sound good to me! I'll have to check to be certain, but I think I could add a 1994 to that mix if we want something that young. It would also be nice to have a 1963 just to fill out the major years, and that would bring us to 9 bottles for 9 people.g-man wrote:how about we do theseGlenn E. wrote:We have our tickets! Okay. We'll see how Sushi's situation works out, then decide how "young" we need to go to have a reasonable number of bottles.g-man wrote:i can easily bring eithe rhte 92 or the 94 if so choose so no need for shipping
Oh, I still plan to do that! Though we might have to move that to Friday night... if I can coax you out to dinner two nights in a row.G-man wrote:we could drink one of your grahams stone terraces if we need

Sandy and Ruth will be available on Friday night as well, and we typically do a more casual dinner at some new restaurant we want to try. If we bring just a single bottle, I wouldn't even mind paying corkage if the restaurant insists.

Re: Annual ACPT March 8th 2014 tasting in NY
Sorry for the delay as it's been busy !
here are the prices i paid
55- 285$
66- 250$
70 -140$
75 - 70$
77 - 140$
80 - 55$
85 - 70$
So assuming 10 people those wines would be 100$/person
we typically find a place that's 100$/person for food too.
(and btw, we need to start looking for places!)
let me know what you guys think
i think some of you have some of the bottles i have,
if you wish to contribute your bottle in place i'm sure i can do some math to work out the difference between what you would owe vs your contribution.

Seems like we need a 1960, 1963, and 1983 to get to 10 bottles for 10 people. I'd be content with that filled-in lineup.g-man wrote: 55- 285$

I can help source (and ship to G-man) if needed. I can't really help with a restaurant... or if I did, we'd end up at one of the places we've gone before.

I do have the 1985 but your price is similar. Logistics likely easier if less shipping involved. Will keep mine unless you are running low on 1985s, or else would prefer me to contribute mine for any reason.g-man wrote: i think some of you have some of the bottles i have, if you wish to contribute your bottle in place i'm sure i can do some math to work out the difference between what you would owe vs your contribution.

Umm. I would personally prefer Manhattan, but am open minded.g-man wrote:would brooklyn be out of the question?
No luck with the likes of: Palm, Allison 18, Northsquare, Keens, etc? I would have voted for any of those, personally.
But it's gonna be great regardless.
As for bottles, I'm happy to adopt at Jeff's costs -- I think the prices seem reasonable, and they come with a guilt put option in the event they're all wrecked, and we'll pick up Jeff's check if they're all smashing!

our goto place unfortunately has a new gm and i'm trying to reach out to her.
there are a few other places but the space might be tight and on a saturday night extremely busy
the steakhouses are a bit on the pricier side at 125$/person so i'm trying to avoid them for now

Okay
Options in dining range
we might have a go at
http://www.fourseasons.com/newyork/dining/
but I'm negotiating with them right now. Having dined at this place, it's a nice wide open space and they ahve great stemware too.
there's also another option
125$/person (before tax/tip) and we're trying to work on the corkage.
at charly bird.
we can order a whole hog in that case if we give them a heads up.
