1970 Dow

Suspects, mostly old but one new, gathered in the obvious place to do the obvious thing. We are creatures of habit.

D70, brought by AHB. Foul smelling. Oh dear. Not tasted.

Deep red, brick rim; 80% opaque. Awful nose with a big dose of VA and horrible bottle stink. Unpleasant palate that is dominated by the VA; harsh flavours, harsh structure although the tannins are soft and pleasant. There is some fruit, but it is very subdued. Long finish of big flavours and great duration. Sadly the finish is the only decent feature of this bottle. NR as this is absolutely not typical for what should be a great port.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
