2007 Quinta da Romaneira LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Sold by the glass at the Ashmolean Museum restaurant. Firm red colour, has lost any hint of youthful purple but has not yet acquired any bricking. Opaque centre but with a wide transparent rim. Stewed fruit on the nose; soft, gentle and attractive but with a nice fresh sage overlay. Lovely flavour. Very fine texture, great balance and elegance. Plenty of smokey fruit, very soft tannins give a perfect foil to the fruit but carry through right to the end of the soft and delicious finish. Thoroughly enjoyable port that works very well with a roast pork lunch! 88/100. Drunk 4 May 2014.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
