Deep orange in colour, 10% opaque. Gentle nose, a bit of bubble gum and sweet figgy fruit. Soft and attractive entry. The fruit on the palate is subdued and dominated by spicy acidity. With patience, the late palate shows good complexity. The aftertaste is attractive and with a surprising flash of tannins on the long finish. Nice port. 86/100. Drunk 23-Apr-14.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
