Brick red, 30% opaque but there is some sediment in the wine. Spicy fruit nose, well developed and pronounced. Sweet and attractive. The entry is sweet and dense, but the familiar astringent acidity dominates the core of the wine. A lovely palate with nice floral fragrance mixed in witht he fruit. The acidity dominates the rather hot aftertaste before the gentle lingering finish takes hold. Pleasant port. 88/100. drunk 23-Apr-14.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
