1999 Sandeman

Deep red in colour, with little softening so far; just less than opaque. Peculiar nose, very herbaceous - perhaps even sulphurous. Sweet and herbaceous entry; lots of fruit and green leaves on the mid-palate before a wave of strong tannins washes over the tongue. A quick burst of acidity on the aftertaste, then a tannin-dominated finish full of bitter grapefruit peel and juice. 84/100. 23-Apr-14.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
