Thin transparent rim on a powerful magenta port. Lovely nose full of perfumed fruit, lifted and elegant. Delicious sweet fruit swamps the entry, generous and balanced. The tannins are soft and hidden behind impressive levels of fruit but are present in a big way, always threatening to grab control. Lots of acidity promising a long future. Big fruity, chewy finish and a great length. 91-93/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
