2001 Taylor Vargellas
An attractive red colour, opaque centre but with a medium transparent rim. Gently fruity nose that is attractive and inviting. Soft round fruit on entry but then a huge wave of tannin and acidity demands attention, but the fruit always remains prominent right through the palate and leads on the finish. Big and very impressive port. 91/100. Drunk 24-Apr-14 at BFT5.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
