1997 Château Doisy Daëne

Post by AW77 »

My first foray into Sauternes:
golden brown, smells of mango and/or quince(?), full bodied, mango and/or quince in the mouth, not that sweet, the alcohol (14%) is well integrated, quite a long finish (25 seconds), I really enjoyed this wine.

I highly recommend their 2005, which should still be reasonably easy to find at a good price. It's a bit sweeter, but has great balance and power. Everything you'd expect in a young Sauternes.
