1964 Bodegas Franco Espanolas Royal Reserva, Rioja
Pale orange, perhaps 10% opaque. Exquisite nose, full of sweet fruit and exotic spices. Balanced palate, with acidity keeping the fragrant fruit focused and alive. Immense finish, long and flavoursome. A fantastic wine which shows no sign yet of starting to decay. 95/100. Drunk 18-May-14. 1 hour decant.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
