1980 Vina Tondonia Tinto Gran Reserva, Rioja
From Bodegas Lopez de Heredia. Pale and attractive rose colour, only 20% opaque. Little on the nose other some vanilla; a bit peculiar. Very soft and gentle on the palate with plenty of fragrant fruit. The tannins are much less obvious than the 1981 vintage. More delicate and refined. 90/100. Drunk 06-May-14.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
