1981 Vina Tondonia Tinto Gran Reserva, Rioja
From Bodegas Lopez de Heredia. A fabulous colour, mature brick-red. Mature nose, meaty with cigar ash and junipers. Soft acidity leads the flavours, gentle tannins on the cheeks turn into a very big palate. Delicious finish of huge length. Really rather fine. 91/100. Drunk 06-May-14.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
