1955 Dow

Rich red/brown in colour, clearly mature; 40% opaque. Gentle shortbread biscuit on the nose, surprisingly rich and complex with a wonderful dried cranberry. Rich, sweet flavours perfectly coat the mouth and fill the palate with a dark fruitcake and wonderful complexity. Some spirit spoils the aftertaste but is compensated by a delicious dry fruit finish that is full of nutmeg. Lovely port. 94/100. Drunk 25-Jun-14. Decanted 3 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
