1891 Niepoort White (Very Old Dry Garrafeira)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Believed to have been over 80 years old when bottled in 1971, so from 1891 or older, but officially is NV. Golden brown in colour with a deep and rich nose that is slightly petrolly and very complex. Powerful, bitter and petrolly on the palate, intense and concentrated ancient flavours. Long, flavoursome finish, overly intense and concentrated so that it slightly lacks in balance. 85/100. Drunk 24-Jun-14. Pop 'n' pour
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
