1931 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Initially popped and poured, showed rather poorly being unbalanced and awkward. A sample was kept back and this tasting note taken after 15 hours.

Deep red/brown in colour, 60% opaque. Restrained on the nose showing just a touch of spirit and hints of rich, deep fruit. Great depths of mature fruit on the palate, rich and complex but with an excellent balance. The tannins are soft yet definite. The port finishes with a wonderful rich and luscious length. This is a great bottle of a great port. 97/100. Drunk 24-Jun-14. Decanted 15 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
