1981 Chateau Gruard Larose
From magnum. Deep red, intense in colour with an opaque centre. Big nose of pencil shavings and graphite. Wonderful sweet fruit on the palate with a lovely balance and persistent minerality that combine to give a great palate presence. Fruit driven aftertaste and a lasting finish that goes on for ages with a superb balance. Very fine claret. 92/100. Tasted 24-Jun-14. Pop 'n' pour.
