From The Wine Society at £16, bottle #3 in our 'cheap claret' protracted tasting.
First glass about an hour after decanting was muted. Much swirling ensued. Several hours later the nose is surprisingly like grape must - a fermenting touch. Peppery notes behind as well as some tobacco.
In the mouth this is quite tight and leathery, with some fine pepperiness (fine as in, producing a very lively mouthfeel as opposed to being very blunt and unyielding). Not much very obvious fruit, that which there is being quite subdued and muted by the pepper. Very dry, lightly peppery finish.
This is austere and probably unready to drink; a surprise as the other young Listracs I've tasted have been forward and exciting. Not fulfilling the 'current daily drinker' requirement.
