2011 Wegeler Charta Riesling

Post by djewesbury »

Warm, wet minerality in nose. Dryness is balanced, late crispness is not too crunchy, with a softness still underneath. Rather austere nonetheless.

I didn't take any notes for this one, but bought 3 bottles instead. I'm a big fan of Charta Riesling and really liked this one. I also decided to start a wine ladder, so will buy the Wegeler Charta Riesling on a regular basis from now on. It was maybe a bit austere, but I would attribute this to it's young age. After some more years in bottle it will be rounder (I think 5 years after the harvest is a good time to drink Cahrta Riesling).
