A wine made at Quinta da Carvalhosa in the Douro. Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Francesa and Touriga Nacional are used.
The nose is young port, but with freshness too. It's big, blocky, has cleanness, but ends with a large brick to the middle of the head. It lacks subtlety.

The Quinta da Carvalhosa is a joint-venture of Bernd Philippi (Koehler-Ruprecht, Pfalz), the late Bernhard Breuer (Georg Breuer, Rheingau) and Werner Näkel (Meyer-Näkel, Ahr). So for bibliograpic reasons, I would suggest calling it "2005 Quinta da Carvalhosa Campo Ardosa".
It's a German style Douro wine (in a way that CHRYSEIA or Post Scriptum is a Bordeaux-style Douro wine).
I found this in my little black book: "a nose that reminds me of port wine, not the typical Portuguese red".
As this was freshly opened for us, the wine we tasted was only open for a minute. So this might be the reason why it lacked "subtlety".
