1997 Rozes LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bought from Castas e Pratos, Regua. Bottled 2003. Deep red, 90% opaque. Pleasant on the nose with an attractive spiced Christmas cake. Dark cherry on the palate, with a touch of tannins that delivers a rich palate although the tannins make it quite dry. The tannins carry through and give a pleasant dryness to the aftertaste although heat shows on the finish that has a good length. Luis Seabra described this as having a tone of "burnt matches" and was spot on. 86/100. Drunk 21-Sep-14. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
