1983 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From the Oxford & Cambridge Club, after dinner following the BBR Port Walk. Brick red, 80% opaque. Slightly sharp fruit but with a lovely twisted citrus zest in the fragrance. Soft and silky entry, a slow developing palate presence with high acidity driving the experience. Fragrant and delicate fruit. A little heat on the aftertaste, then a very long fruit-led finish with a green tannin bite. Pleasant sipping port. 85/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
