2004 Dow Bomfim
Mid-red, just off opaque in the centre. Nicely developed bramble nose with autumn hedgerows. Smokey, fruity entry with soft fruit but firm tannins. A nice complexity from the palate when mixing with air. The aftertaste is chewy and with cracked black pepper on the long finish. Great length; impressive and surprisingly easy to drink at the age of 10 years. 89/100. Tasted 24-Feb-15

I was really surprised at just how balanced and drinkable this port was at what is supposed to the lowest point of it being shut down.

Indeed; I guess this wasn't a bottle opened at home, on the basis that it would be such an unlikely choice given its current age - I'm wondering how long a decant it had?

Probably around 3-4 hours, but I can't be certain.
